Meet the Team
Executive
TU Dublin Students Union (SU) Executive is made up of eight full-time officers, undertaking specific duties and responsibilities in targeted areas that seek to promote and advocate for students. With the President as the overall chief spokesperson of the Union, four other overall roles work under the remit of the President representing students in their work area, these are: the VP for Academic Affairs, VP for Events and Engagement, VP for Communications and Media and VP for Welfare and Equality.
The final three positions within the Executive are geographically-based, whom represent, but are not exclusive to, the three core campus areas of TU Dublin. These geographically-based Officers are known as: Campus VP for Blanchardstown Campus, Campus VP for City Campus and Campus VP for Tallaght Campus.
Shauna is the new President of TU Dublin Students’ Union. Previously the VP for Academic Affairs and having learnt a lot in that role she is now the chief spokesperson and representative of the union. Shauna is looking forward to representing the student population and ensuring they have the best experience possible while here in TU Dublin. She is a graduate of the Film & Broadcasting course based in the East Quad, heavily involved with the Access Service during her degree and hopes to apply those experiences to her term as president.
Fun Fact: Shauna is obsessed with Sylvanian Families.

Sheran studied 'Computing with AI and Machine Learning' on the Tallaght campus and served as the Campus VP there last year.
This year, she is returning as the VP for Academic Affairs, and aims to enhance your college experience through extensive lobbying. Her goals for the year include getting an updated academic calendar, promoting curriculum diversity and abolishing repeat fees!
Fun Fact: Sheran can play 11 instruments!

Ema is the VP for Communications and Media for the academic year 2024/2025. She completed her degree in Human Resource Management in TU Dublin before taking on this role. She was a student councillor, class rep, and student staff member during her time as a student.
Ema is responsible for providing information to students about the activities happening within the university, promoting events/services offered by the SU, and creating a student led Media Outlet, among other things.
Fun fact: Ema’s favourite gaming console is her Nintendo Switch Lite and her favourite game is Cult of the Lamb.

Fatima Said Abshir is the VP of Welfare and Equality at TU Dublin, where she advocates for student welfare and equality. Of Somali descent and raised in Kenya, Fatima brings a unique perspective to her role, championing diversity and inclusion within the university community. She has extensive experience in humanitarian work, having spent five years with the international charity organization, Human Appeal. Currently, Fatima is an international student pursuing a Master's degree in Public Affairs and Political Communications, combining her academic pursuits with her commitment to social justice.
Funfact: Fatima is a third culture child, born in Southern Africa, Zambia.

Princewill Aguele is the VP for Events and Engagements. He is an international student from Nigeria currently pursuing an MSc in Applied Cybersecurity aswell as holding a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the Benson Idahosa University, Nigeria. Before joining TU Dublin for his master's Program, he worked as a branding consultant for concept61 in Nigeria with clients like Jameson, Hennessey and various others. Princewill’s key areas of work will focus on cultural and diversified events that cater to the general population of the student body regardless of background, making the campus welcoming and engaging for everyone.
Fun Fact: My favourite football team is Bendel Insurance F.C.

Esmeraldi is the incoming Campus VP for Blanchardstown. He recently completed a four-year honours degree in Business Studies with TU Dublin. Esmeraldi had been representing his class for three consecutive years during his studies in which he has learnt various skills which can be transferred into this current role.
Some hobbies that Esmeraldi enjoys including Watching Anime, Reading Manga, The Gym as Physical health is important for the mental health and of course gaming in his spare time.

Naomi Sebastine is the Campus VP of Tallaght Campus. She has just recently graduated from a a Bachelor of Science degree in Bioanalytical science. She has been involved with representation of students over the last four years. Acting as a class representative for her course over the years and volunteering as a call taking volunteer for NiteLine, as well as also being the NiteLine public face for TU Dublin.
Fun fact: Naomi has two degrees at age 20.

Peter is returning Campus VP for the City Campus. He is a recent Electrical and Electronic Engineering graduate. Starting all the way back in Bolton Street and moving to Kevin Street before finally finishing in Grangegorman, he’s seen it all. Over the last two years he has served as a class representative as well as a student councilor. Peters main objectives this year are to focus on the student engagement and facilities in the TU Dublin City Campuses. He wants to continue to work on campus facilities and try his best to give students the best campus experience as well as make sure they are there for years to come.
Fun fact: Karpackie is Peter’s favourite beer!

Jessica Gallagher
She/Her
General Manager
Jessica is the newly appointed General Manager of TU Dublin Students Union (SU). Having joined the organisation in February of 2024.
Her core role is to support the work of the President and Officers in the achievement of their constitutional objectives, lead on the development and implementation of the Board’s strategic plan, in line with best practice and good corporate governance, and manage the staff and resources of the Union to ensure effective service delivery to students and collaborates closely with senior management in the University on various student initiatives.
Prior to her role in TU Dublin Students Union (SU), Jessica worked in number of NGO's in both management and senior management positions in the Homeless, and Older Persons sector.

Jason Aughney

Events, Marketing and Communications Lead
Jason Aughney has been the Events Marketing and Communications Lead for TU Dublin Students Union (SU) CLG, (previously DIT Students’ Union CLG), since 2018. In his multifaceted role he is responsible for onsite and offsite Events, Marketing bookings/activities, and overall communications across the organisation, of which he reports on to the General Manager.
Jason is also responsible for maintaining our current services whilst identifying and investigating the possibility of providing new services for students. He acts as a support to our Events and Engagement Officer whilst keeping with the Communication needs of the Students’ Union President.
Prior to his role in TU Dublin Students Union (SU), Jason worked in the Institute of Technology Blanchardstown as Students’ Union President for four years and later went to work in eBay for just under two years.

Caroline Fabry
She/Her
Operations and Finance Lead
Caroline Fabry was appointed Operations and Finance Lead in the TU Dublin SU since 2021. Her role includes supporting the board of directors of the TU Dublin SU CLG for all their meetings, committees, and subcommittees. Her role is multifaced and also includes HR support to both operational staff and elected sabbatical officers.
Before joining the Students Union, Caroline worked for a non-profit in the homelessness sector as project manager and in an international NGO in fundraising. She holds a master’s degree in Political Sciences.

Ciara Broderick
Welfare, Equality and Advice Lead
Ciara Broderick joined the Students' Union as the Welfare, Equality & Advice Lead in September 2024. Her main roles include the effective delivery of welfare, equality, and advice services for students, leading the student advisor team, and supporting the elected officials with policy initiatives and campaigns.
Before joining the Students' Union, Ciara worked in homeless services for a number of years, most recently managing a number of community-based outreach services across Dublin.

Emer Kington
Communications Executive
Emer Kington joined the team in 2022, as Communications Executive.
In her role she is responsible for all internal and external communication plans and managing digital media platforms. These platforms include Social Meida channels, the Website, Email Marketing and the Monthly Newsletter. Emer is the key contact for media queries, as well as creating Press Releases and facilitating photoshoots, video interviews and phone interviews for the elected officers. Some bigger projects she is also responsible for is working on updating strategies, brand development and a website redevelopment plan for 2024.
Emer has a BA in Digital Media and Business, and has been working in higher education since 2021.

John Alinas
Services and Events Executive
John joined the TU Dublin Students Union (SU) team as the Events & Services Executive in 2023. John's role supports the running of key commercial services of the Union through our TUDSU+ service across our 5 different locations. If you need Leapcards, class hoodies, branded sweaters, merch or some just some craic John is your man! Alongside the elected officers John also aides in the rolling out of our hectic events schedule.
Previously John has managed projects, operations, marketing and events for numerous organisations in the Higher Education sector. In his spare time John nourishes his passion for content creation and photography.

Murray Aston

Graphic Design & Website Executive
Murray has been working for TU Dublin SU CLG in the capacity of Graphic Designer since 2019.
Murray is our chief creative graphic designer. As a certified graphic designer he earned his bachelor’s degree in Communication Design with TU Dublin. Murray's day to day work encompasses everything from brand identity design, packaging design, photo-editing, content creation and really any design output that the company requires.
Murray has become intrinsic to TU Dublin SU not only through design but also his happy creative approaches and smily demeanour.

Trish Cullen
Bolton Street Student Advisor
Trish Cullen has been a Student Advisor of TU Dublin SU CLG, (previously Dublin Institute of Technology SU CLG) since 2012.
Trish is responsible for front-line information and advice service in Education & Welfare for students on campus. Trish is responsible for the provision of accurate and appropriate advice and information to students in relation to welfare and education matters, in line with TU Dublin SU CLG policies and practice in terms of confidentiality, boundaries, record-keeping and excellent customer service.
Trish is also responsible for the administration of the Class Rep system and local democracy (including elections) on the Bolton Street Campus.

Barbara Murray
Tallaght Campus Student Advisor
Barbara Murray has been a Student Advisor of TU Dublin SU CLG, since March 2024. Before joining the Students' Union, Barbara worked for South Dublin County Council as well as many educational institutes.
Barbara is responsible for front-line information and providing an advice service for students on Tallaght campus. Barbara is responsible for the provision of accurate and appropriate advice and information to students in relation to welfare and education matters, in line with TU Dublin SU CLG policies and practice in terms of confidentiality, boundaries, record-keeping and excellent customer service.
Barbara is also responsible for the administration of the Class Rep system and local democracy (including elections) on the Tallaght Campus.

Darragh O’Meara

Blanchardstown Campus Student Advisor
Darragh began working as a Student Advisor for the Blanchardstown Campus in 2023.
Darragh is responsible for providing the students on Campus with front line information and advice. In line with TU Dublin SU CLG policies and procedures, Darragh will deal with any queries student may have regarding Education and Welfare matters on campus.
Previous to joining TU Dublin SU, Darragh was employed as a Societies & Student Volunteering Development Intern on the Blanchardstown Campus. Darragh also holds a BA in Sports Management & Coaching from TU Dublin and is responsible for the administration of the Class Rep system and local democracy (including elections) on the Blanchardstown Campus.

Maeve Gilmore

Aungier Street Student Advisor
Maeve joined the Student Advice team in September 2023.
As a member of the Student Advice team, Maeve is responsible for providing students with reliable advice and information they may need relating to their welfare or academics, in accordance with TUDSU CLG standards and procedures. Her role also includes administrative support for local elections on the Aungier Street campus for the class rep system and democracy including elections.
Maeve holds a BA Psychology and Sociology from University of Limerick and has experience in student representative structures as she was elected Deputy President Welfare Officer for ULSL in 2022/23. She has spent many years volunteering with youth organisations and charities specifically focused on young people's mental health and wellbeing.

Gillian McInerney

Grangegorman Student Advisor
Gillian joined the Student Advice team in August 2024.
As a member of the Student Advice team Gillian is responsible for front-line information and advice provision in the areas of welfare and academics in line with TU Dublin SU CLG policies and practice in terms of confidentiality, boundaries, record-keeping and excellent customer service. Gillian also assists with the administration of the Class Rep system and local democracy on Grangegorman campus.
Gillian holds a BA in Contemporary Culture and Society from DCU and has spent many years working in the charities sector for helplines and providing training on many topics including LGBTQIA+ Awareness, Self Care and Sexual Health.

Lisa Kuzmina
Finance Executive
Lisa Kuzmina joined the TU Dublin Students Union (SU) in 2024 as Finance Executive. Her main role is to contribute to the financial management of the Students’ Union ensuring that key stakeholders are aware of and comply with their financial responsibilities and the finance procedures and controls in place.
Her main responsibilities relate to maintaining and preparing monthly financial management reports and annual accounts to provide the Operations and Finance Lead, the General Manager, the Board and the team of full-time Officers with timely and accurate financial information to enable the achievement of agreed budgets and ensure that well informed decisions are taken where there are specific financial implications.
Lisa is a graduate of Dundalk Institute of Technology and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Finance. She has over 15 years of experience and prior to joining the Students' Union, she held finance positions in a variety of sectors, including working as a senior auditor in several accounting firms and as a senior accountant in a number of US multinational companies.

Caoimhín Kelly
Democracy & Representation Executive
Caoimhín joined the TU Dublin Students Union team as Democracy and Representation Executive in 2023.
In his role, he supports, assists and administers all democratic processes across the Union, whilst maintaining and upholding constitutional compliance. His role also includes the coordination of key democratic pillars of the Union like the Student Council, the Electoral Commission and Union Elections.
Caoimhín holds a Master degree in European Union Law from the University of Amsterdam, and has previously worked in the public sector with Ireland’s Foreign Ministry.

Those are 4 students elected by Student Council for the Academic Year. Any TU Dublin student can apply by filing out a nomination form in the spring for the following academic year. Candidates are then voted on by Student Council. Among those 4 students, one must be studying at Blanchardstown Campus, one at Tallaght Campus and two at City Campus.

Lan Ngai
Lan is studying digital forensics and cybersecurity in Blanchardstown campus. She will be in her 2nd year of studies as of September 2024.
Along with being the SU student director for Blanchardstown, she also is the Blanchardstown Societies' Chairperson and HackerSoc's vice chair.
Outside of university she enjoys participating in CTFs (capture the flag).
Karishma Lalit Koul
Karishma is a second-year Business and Management student at TU Dublin's Aungier Street campus. She focuses on promoting sustainability as an N-TUTOR Student Champion. Karishma received awards for the TU Dublin Student Volunteering, receiving a Gold Medal and the Best Fresher Award for her volunteer work. She also founded the Interact Club Kinship Walkers in Lagos, Nigeria, a charity club where she lead beach cleanups, teach kids about sustainability, and organize donation and fundraising events. Her aim is to ensure the student voice is heard on the board.
Abdulawwal Lemboye
Abdulawwal is a final year Aviation Technology student in Bolton Street. Other than being the SU student director for City Campus, he’s also the senior advisor for the City Campus Islamic Society and PRO for the Debating Society. In his spare time, Abdulawwal is avid Geopolitical and history Junkie! And of course, is a Liverpool fan
Oisín Putt
Oisín Putt is a 3rd year Media Production & Digital Arts student on Tallaght Campus. He is the incoming Disability Officer for TU Dublin Students’ Union. He became a member of the board of directors because he wants to be a part of the student movement within TU Dublin Students' Union.
Directors Selected Externally
The non-executive directors are selected externally to bring experience and other perspectives to the Board. They are selected through a recruitment and selection process monitored by the Nominations sub-committee, which is a sub-section of the Board. Non-executive directors are appointed by the Board in consultation with Student Council for a term of 3 years which can be renewed for a further period of 3 years. One of those 5 non-executive directors is appointed as Independent Chairperson of the Board.
Deiric Ó Broin – Chairperson
Deiric Ó Broin was appointed Chairperson of the Board of TU Dublin SU in June 2021. He previously served as President of the College of Commerce (DIT Rathmines) Students' Union and as the first President of the Dublin Institute of Technology Students' Union. He has worked in higher education for over 25 years.
He is Professor of Public Policy Practice in the School of Law and Government in Dublin City University (DCU) and currently serves as Chairperson of Pobal, the public body providing management and support services to circa 31 programmes in the areas of Social Inclusion and Equality, Inclusive Employment and Enterprise, and Early Years and Young People.
Frank Crummey
Frank Crummey was appointed director of the Board in June 2021. He works in IT management and has over 15 years of experience in various senior IT management roles. He has a Degree in Computer Science and Software Engineering (DIT Kevin Street) and a Diploma in Legal Studies (DIT Aungier Street). Frank is a certified Data Protection Practitioner and has a Professional Certificate in Governance.
Frank was Chairperson of CLAY Youth Project in Crumlin from 2013 to 2020 and he now serves as a Director on the CLAY board. In December 2020, Frank was appointed to the board of Leargas by the Minister for Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science.
Frank advises the boards of several charities on best practice with regard to governance and how to comply with the governance code. You can see more on Frank’s LinkedIn Profile.
Ciaran Crosbie
Ciaran Crosbie was appointed director of the Board in December 2022. He has over 20 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical industry in roles across Quality Control, Operations, Continuous Improvement and Learning and Development and is currently Innovation and Learning Lead in Alexion Pharmaceuticals.
He has previously served as Deputy Convenor and Convenor of DIT Kevin Street Students’ Union during the establishment of the DIT Students’ Union. He holds BScs in Applied Biology and Technology Management from DIT and an MSc in Organisational Psychology from DCU.
Helen Ryan
Helen has been 25 years working in adult literacy. She held a number of roles with the National Adult Literacy Agency (NALA) and is currently on secondment to SOLAS (Further Education and Training State Agency). She is Health Lead for the 10-year Adult Literacy for Life Strategy.
Helen previously served two years as President and Deputy President of DIT Students’ Union. She was also an elected representative with the Union of Students in Ireland for two years: as Deputy President and Welfare Officer. Helen was on Board of Comhlamh and sat on the Parent Teacher Association in Shellybanks Educate Together National School.
Maebh Horan-Murphy
Maebh Horan-Murphy was appointed director of the Board in July 2024. She has over 15 years experience in the fields of Third Level Education & Communications and is currently an Education Technologist with the UCD School of Medicine.
Prior to TUD's formation, she held the position of Student Advisor in the DIT Mountjoy Square campus for just under 4 years. She holds a HND in Digital Media from BCFE and an MSc in Communications & Media from UCD.
