Naomi Sebastine

Welcome to our April Edition!

Hello everyone!! I’m Naomi Sebastine, your Tallaght Campus Vice President and your new President elect.

Let me tell my journey with TUDSU. Before I became involved with the Students’ Union, I was studying Bioanalytical Science on the Tallaght Campus. The SU isn’t something I thought I would be directly involved in but now here I am - leading SU from the forefront. This just goes goes to show that you never know what your full potential is unless you put yourself forward. If you ever think of getting involved with SU, I would say, do it! This is going to be the best learning curve you can ask for.

In my role as Tallaght CVP, I work on improving and looking after the campus and its facilities. I also chair the class rep meetings for Tallaght students where issues are raised by class reps and then resolved. Currently, I am working on certain improvement plans for Tallaght campus which I cannot disclose right away, but you will be hearing about it soon enough!

If there are any specific areas that you feel needs attention, please feel free to let me know at tallaght@tudublinsu.ie.

Lastly, I hope you all enjoy the upcoming Easter break, and you all remember to have a nice balance between college work and a well-deserved break.

Wishing you the best,

Naomi

Events

Green Week

Green Week

We held Green Week/Climate Emergency Week from 24th to 29th of March.

The focus was to raise awareness about sustainability and emphasise why today it’s more important than ever to reduce our individual carbon footprint. As you know, every small step has a BIG IMPACT!

Following up on this theme, we had a Sustainability Stand set up in East Quad, Grangegorman on 24th from 10am to 1pm.

There was a fun sustainability game which saw participants guess between options which are more harmful to the environment. Let me give you a little preview of the Quiz: Is cattle-farming or strawberry farming more harmful to the environment? Hint - It's not as obvious as we think it is.

Did you know we gave away free eco-friendly Lush bath products to all the participants?  Missed it? Fret not. All our events are listed on our website before they go live -  Check it out

By-election

We are holding a by-election for our two key posts - VP Welfare & Equality (Full-time) and Postgraduate Officer (Part-time) on 10th April, 2025 (Thursday) on all our campuses.

Don’t forget to stay tuned to our socials to stay updated about the election. A little birdie told me that there are quite a few contenders for the posts, so it’s going to be a nail-biting finale! Remember the ball is always in your court. YOU are the one who ultimately decide who represents you in TUDSU. So, stay informed by reading the candidate manifestos - Manifestos

Pride Week

Are you ready for the most slaytastic event of the year?

From 7th to 11th April, get ready to experience a lineup of incredible events, including a Crafts market, Drag Race, and Speed-Friending Pride Brunch. Its going to be a goated event!

Let's take a sneak peek into each:

craft market

On 7th April, from 10 am to 2 pm, we’re hosting a tiny-traders style craft market for small business owners and artists that sells LGBTQIA+ themed clothes, and accessories.

The market will held at the Grangegorman campus in East Quad. Show a little support by showin' up!

drag race

Back by popular demand, the annual TUDSU Drag Race is happening on 8th April, 2025. Hosted by the Queen herself, Naomi Diamond, get ready to sashay and slay your way to Wigwam.

Pride Brunch

Pride Brunch is a free speed-friending event that’s taking place on the 10th of April 2025 at Central Quad, CQ 307 from 10:30am -12:00pm.

This is a wonderful opportunity for the LGBTQ+ community and allies to connect.

For all ball 2024

Due to popular demand, we have added 5 more tickets to TUDSU Formal Ball & Awards ceremony set for Friday, April 25th at the Crowne Plaza, Blanchardstown.

Yes, you heard that right!

The response to this event has been overwhelming, and we are happy that we are able to add few more tickets to accommodate you guys. Don’t wait now – hurry up, and book the tickets asap so that you can wrap up the year in style.

TUDSU+

Have you noticed something new around campus? I’m talking about the TU Dublin branded hoodies. I must say the purple one looks iconic. If that's not your colour, we have other options too at great prices.

Check out on our website here to order. If you are in Grangegorman, why don't you pop over to TUDSU+ to explore our collection!
