VP Communications
Ema Radlinskaite

Hey everyone!

I'm Ema (with one 'm'). I'm the 24/25 academic year VP for Comms & Media.

How'd I get here? Before being elected I was studying Human Recourse Management in Aungier Street (I just had my graduation on the 1st of November!). I was involved in the Students' Union before becoming a full-time officer, I was a class rep for all four years of my degree, I was on the student council for one year, and I worked as a student staff member for one year. In my final year, I ran for the office of VP for Comms & Media and here I am!

So what do I do? My main role, as with all the other officers, is to represent students. My second main role is to provide transparency and communication to and from the Union. For the transparency part, I started the officer monthly highlights in order to allow students to have a wide overview of what each officer has done though the month. When I was a student I didn't really know who the full time officers were or what they did, so I've tried to change that. For the communication part, you'll mostly see my social media content during events but also working with staff on this newsletter.

I've been experimenting with the newsletter, I added a section for students to submit creative works or opinion pieces in order to showcase the talent and opinions of our student body. I also added the officer highlight sections, and worked with various groups like TU Dublin sustainability team and sports team in order to make the newsletter more collaborative. If you ever want to contact me, my email is comms.media@tudublinsu.ie. If you have a suggestion for this newsletter, or anything else really, you can add it here. Also if you want to submit any kind of creative or opinion piece to this newsletter, just fill out this form and send your piece to newsletter@tudublinsu.ie.

Thank you for reading!

Warm regards,
Ema

Student Showcase

For our first student showcase we have a photo essay by Philip McCaughey.

About the Photographer: Philip McCaughey is a second-year Photography student from County Monaghan. He is deeply committed to human rights and advocates for the rights of marginalized individuals in society.

About the Project: The project titled "Student Accommodation Crisis" explores Philip's personal experience with the search for affordable student housing during his first year as an undergraduate. He resided in hostel accommodation while seeking suitable housing. It took him over a year to find appropriate accommodation that provided the necessary privacy to manage his medical condition. This project serves as a commentary on the broader accommodation crisis currently faced in Ireland.
